Man dies after snowmobile crash
A 21-year-old man died Thursday of injuries in a snowmobile crash Dec. 26 during a family event in Adams Township, authorities said.
Jacob A. Grady, of Penn Township was pronounced dead at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was taken following the accident in a field off Valencia Road.
The circumstances of the wreck about 3:15 p.m. were not available. Adams Township police and the Adams Area Fire District, who responded, did not return telephone calls Sunday.
A bystander reportedly called 911 after seeing the accident. Grady, who was wearing a helmet, was later flown by STAT MedEvac to the Pittsburgh hospital.
He died at 10:13 a.m. of “complications of blunt force trauma to the head and trunk,” according to an investigator with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.
The manner of death was listed as accidental.
An obituary for Grady said that the accident happened during a family sledding and snowmobile event. The obituary also noted that Grady “has generously given the gift of life through organ donation” by way of the Center for Organ Recovery & Education.
A native of Pittsburgh, Grady was a 2017 graduate of Knoch High School and attended vo-tech his junior and senior years, studying machine technology.
He worked with his father at Specialty Pre-Cast in Prospect.
