Stephen L. Prokay
Stephen L. Prokay, 85, of Hilliards, Pa., was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
Born Feb. 18, 1935, in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret Cokley Prokay. With the passing of his mother at a young age, he was reared by his maternal grandparents, Charles Ellery and Fannie Thompson Cokley.
He was a member of the Ridgeville United Methodist Church.
Stephen served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He also worked many different jobs throughout the years as a milkman, pipeline worker, janitor, welder at the former Pullman Standard and as a construction worker for Warner and Warner, until his retirement.Stephen enjoyed working on several projects in his garage after retirement. He also liked going fishing, canoeing, playing pinochle, camping, visiting with friends, spending time with his family and his puppy, “Duke,” and most of all, loved to talk with anyone who would listen.He served as coach for the baseball team his sons played on, and was a wonderful, supportive husband and father to his family.His wife of 66 years, Emma J. Prokay, preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2020.He is survived by three sons, Steven (Tina) Prokay, Mark (Carol) Prokay and Mike (Jane) Prokay; one daughter, Tammy (Ron) Bowser; six grandsons, Tyler, Christopher, Ryan, Colton, Ethan and Ira; one granddaughter, Shelby; three great-granddaughters, Elsie, Ayla and Fable; and four great-grandsons, Isaac, Nolan, Caleb and Jude.He is also survived by two brothers, Emery and Richard; and one sister, Betty.In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna “Chrissy” Prokay; a grandson; a great-grandson; and a daughter-in-law.PROKAY — Arrangements are private for Stephen L.
