Mary A. Walters

Mary A. Walters, 98, of Cabot passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot. Mary was a longtime resident of Allegheny Township.

Mary was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Lanes Mills, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Sarah (Pattison) and Joseph Penvose.

She was the widow of Robert H. Walters, who passed away in 1974.

Mary had been an active member of United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, and had served as an elder for many years.

She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Freeport.

Mary enjoyed camping, crocheting and craftwork. She hosted a radio show in the 1940s, on the local Butler radio station. Mary loved to write poetry, and has had her work published in the Library of Congress.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Diane Long of Shadyside, and Sally (Charles) Wojnar of Allegheny Township; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert C. Walters; five brothers; and two sisters.

WALTERS — At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation for Mary A. Walters, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.

Arrangements are under the direction of Redmond Funeral Home, Freeport.
