Morning snow causes minor traffic accidents
Several inches of snow met motorists hitting the road in Butler County this morning. Expect a little more to come.
The county's 911 center reported only two minor accidents since 6 a.m.
“It's pretty quiet right now,” a dispatcher said at about 7:30 a.m.
State police in Butler also said troopers have been called out to only “a few” accidents, all of the fender-bender variety, since 7 a.m.
A vehicle struck and sheared off a utility pole on Valencia Road in Forward Township about 7 a.m., and a car slid into a guardrail on Monroe Road off Route 356 in Buffalo Township about 7:15 a.m.
No injuries were reported in the morning accidents.
All Butler County public schools have moved to remote learning throughout the day.
The county and most of Western Pennsylvania remain until a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Tuesday. An additional accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected through tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
The forecast Tuesday calls for a slight chance of snow showers from mid morning through the night, with with a low around 19. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
