Thomas Holmes

Thomas Neil Holmes, 74, of Slippery Rock passed away at AHN-Grove City on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.

He was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Butler, to Thomas Holmes and Anna Rose Gorencic Holmes.

He married Betty Ann Ritenour on Sept. 4, 1971.

Tom graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1964, and the Educational Institute (Pittsburgh) in 1967.

He retired from General Electric in Grove City, where he worked in industrial maintenance.

He attended Calvary OPC Church in Harrisville.

Tom was very active in the community of Slippery Rock, and worked very hard to benefit the town. He had served over 10 years with the Slippery Rock in Bloom organization, and helped to maintain and care for the flowers strategically planted all over town. He volunteered for the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard, and was active in the administration of the Slippery Rock Cemetery Association.

He coached youth sports. He was a recipient of the Ted Walwik Award, Slippery Rock Rotary’s Community Service Award given each year for outstanding community leadership and stewardship. He was a Slippery Rock Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.

Survivors include his wife, Betty at home; two daughters, Tiffany A. Frampton of Slippery Rock, and Amanda L. (Matthew) Lucco of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Tyler Holmes, and Taylor and Andrew Lucco.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother.

HOLMES — The family of Thomas Neil Holmes, who died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, will receive friends privately from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle Road, Slippery Rock.

Private funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Slippery Rock in Bloom, or to Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard.
