Gladys B. Beaver
Gladys B. (Slupe) Beaver, 99, passed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Lucele Gregg Slupe, the youngest of four children.
Glady graduated from Butler High School in 1939, became a practical nurse, then attended Grace Martin Secretarial School in Pittsburgh.
She worked at Armco as a secretary, until she met the love of her life. After she married John (Jack) Beaver, she became a homemaker and a loving mom to their two children.
She was a member of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church, Armco Girls, Neighborhood Bridge Clubs as well as many Stonecroft Bible Studies.
Glady enjoyed walking, riding her stationary bike, shopping and playing bridge with her dear friends, and vacationing in Florida for the winter. But most of all, she loved being with her family.
She was married on Nov. 23, 1944, to John “Jack” Beaver for 53 years, and the loving mom to Linda (Jack) Croft and David (Patty) Beaver.
She was affectionately called Mema by her four grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa (Jim) Rosanbalm, Travis (Khristina) Croft, Laura (Owen) Usher and Lindsey (Christopher) Cavallero; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Jack and Theo; and her nieces and nephews, Brenda, Georgia and Karen (Dick), Rich, and Ron and Jim, whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Beaver, who passed away on Dec. 30, 1997; her three brothers and their wives, Lester (Agnes) Slupe, Leroy (Jeanie) Slupe and Charles (Dena) Slupe; and her nephew, Gordon Slupe.
Our family would like to thank the staff on Seigert-Gehr Hall at Concordia and the hospice nurses of Good Samaritan, for their love and compassion they had shown Mom over the last three years. They are amazing and so dedicated to the residents. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! “Oh Boy!”
