In just under three months, the Butler VA Health Care System has administered 10,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses.

At a clinic this past weekend, Korean War veteran Homer Younkins received the 10,000th dose, according to a release from the Butler VA.

“I am so happy to receive the vaccine to protect myself and my wife,” said Younkins in the release.

Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations require two doses.

The release says he was one of 700 veterans who received a second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine during Saturday’s clinic. Younkins received his first dose on Feb. 13.

The Butler VA Health Care System recently lowered the age eligibility to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to veterans of all ages who are enrolled and eligible for care through the Butler VA. Veterans interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine can contact the VA’s call center at 878-271-6753 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for more information and to schedule an appointment.
