Nathan Everhart

Nathan Edgar Everhart

Nathan Edgar Everhart, loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, teacher, nurse, counselor and mentor passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at the age of 57.

Nathan is survived by his wife, Sandie Starr Everhart; his parents, Rebecca McPeek and Jim Everhart; his three daughters, Claire Everhart (Sharif), Rebecca Eades (John David) and Alexandra Everhart Gearing (Dillon); his brothers, Eric (Rhonda), Todd (Julie) and Darren (Jennifer); his sister, Jackie (John); Tim and Steve McPeek; his grandchildren, Josiah and Johnathan; and many more adoring cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and students.

Nathan was born July 19, 1963, in Gowanda, N.Y.

He was a graduate of Pine Valley High School in 1981, and Edinboro University, BSN in 1985. He was a proud member of Edinboro's football team and joined the Coalition for Christian Outreach's student activities. He went on to complete an M.S. in nursing and an M.A. in counselor education, school counseling and guidance services from Edinboro.

Nathan dedicated his life to serving others. He cared for patients for 20 years at Hamot Medical Center, followed by serving as school nurse at Cambridge Springs, and more than 27 years at General McLane's Parker Middle School. He was beloved by his colleagues and students.

Nathan served as a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve (1993-2003).

He was a faithful servant of Christ, and member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. In support of Sandie's work, he ministered along with her to hundreds of Edinboro student athletes, hosting Bible studies, dinners and mentoring students.

Nathan passed away in the arms of his wife, doing what he loves, cross-country skiing. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially when done with his wife and daughters, from backpacking, to skiing, cycling, rock climbing, water skiing and gardening.

Nathan was known for his embracing warmth, embodied by his famous bear hugs, and his ability to make each person feel like the most important in the world. He lives on in his legacy of love and kindness that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Nathan will be dearly missed.

Nathan loved the Edinboro student athletes among whom he and Sandie ministered. In honor of his love for them and his giving heart, a fund has been started to support Edinboro students in need, just as he did.
