Albert Campbell “Al” McGrath, 84, of Butler passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

He was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Butler, and was the son of the late Lyle and Elizabeth (Campbell) McGrath.

Al worked in management at AK Steel for 42 years, retiring in June of 2001.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during peace time.Al was an active member of the Rotary Club of Butler.He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching sports and was an avid Steelers fan. He also enjoyed doing charitable work, having served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity as well as other civic groups.Al was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and later, First United Methodist Church, serving both in a variety of leadership roles.Al was a devoted husband for 54 years and a great Dad. His lasting legacy is accepting and caring for others.He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Hesselgesser) McGrath, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1966; one son, Jeffrey Albert McGrath of Feeding Hills, Mass.; one brother, Daniel McGrath of Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; and many close friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lila (McGrath) Albert; and one brother, Donald McGrath.MCGRATH — Friends of Albert Campbell “Al” McGrath, who died Monday, March 1, 2021, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be private.Entombment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.Due to COVID-19 state guidelines, visitors are required to supply and wear a facial mask and adhere to social distancing. Groups are limited to 50 people inside.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001; Butler County Symphony, 259 S.
