Bradford Mooney

Bradford Mooney

Bradford Mooney, 76, of Worthington, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wis., and was the son of the late Donald and Margaret (Savage) Mooney.

Bradford was an Eagle Scout in his early life, before he graduated in 1964 from East Aurora High School in New York.

In 1972, he earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University.

He had a love for the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being lifelong pursuits. His company, Heritage Restorations, restored over 150 log structures, including the cabin at the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh.

By far, his biggest professional accomplishment is bringing Fort Ligonier back to life. Using historical records, he transformed the fort to truly reflect its history and legacy in early American history. In addition to his success as a historical restorator, he served for over a decade as a waterways conservation officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

He was an avid bowler in the Ligonier Valley Men’s Bowling League, winning several trophies and sponsoring the league when he could no longer play.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Guch) Mooney; three children, Drew, Aubin and Emily; and five grandchildren.

MOONEY — A memorial to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Bradford Mooney, who died Thursday, March 4, 2021, is planned at 11 a.m. May 22, 2021, at Fort Ligonier, Pa.

Arrangements are under the direction of SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
