The cast of the Knoch High School musical “Beehive: The 60s Musical (High School Edition)” assembles on stage. The show will go on May 1, 8 and 9.
Knoch students stage musical 'Beehive'

SAXONBURG — Knoch High School will present “Beehive: The 60s Musical (School Edition)” as a streaming performance at 8 p.m. May 1, 8 and 9.

All tickets are $20. The show runs 90 minutes with no intermission.

Once you purchase tickets, Booktix.com will send you a link to the stream, an access code, and instructions for streaming.

There will also be a “Beehive” viewing party May 1 at the Starlight Drive-In, 1985 N. Main St. Ext.

Those interested in attending the viewing party should purchase the Starlight ticket option. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m. The concession stand and the usual flowers/gifts table will be open at the pavilion near the entrance.

“Beehive” will be showing on all three screens, but there are only 260 spaces available. There is no limit to the number of people in your party. However, COVID-19 protocols and restrictions are in place and will be enforced by the Starlight staff.

Cars will be parked in every other space; you can set up chairs outside the cars, but must remain in your spaces and not move to the open space in between cars. Masks are to be worn at all times. You will be given specific COVID-19 guidelines to follow when you arrive at Starlight.

“Beehive: The 60s Musical (School Edition)” celebrates the powerful voices of the 1960s with such timeless hits as “My Boyfriend's Back,” “Be My Baby,” “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Me and Bobby McGee.”

Told from the perspective of eight young women who come of age in this enigmatic decade, “Beehive” takes us from their first dance to the challenges we faced as a nation.

Jennifer Bronder is the producer/director, and Diane Beckstead is the vocal director.

Emily Cramer is the choreographer; Ricardo L. Hayden Jr., the orchestra director; and Jeannette Adams, the technical director and scenic set artist.

Lori Hovaenc is the costume designer and constructor, and Scotte Emmel is the sound and lighting supervisor. Brent Russell is the audio recording supervisor. Zachary Smith is the film editor.

Izzy Froedtert is the student film director and Jessica Sentgeorge is the student director. The logo was designed by Nathan Glassic.
