Jennings center lists May programs
BRADY TWP — The Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will have the following programs available in May:
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 to 6, Family Science Outside: Bird Engineering. The program is for at-home learners and their grown-ups to learn about the living lab of the great outdoors and explore the amazing engineering talents and design of birds. Time slots are available for one family group or “pod” at a time (maximum 12 people/group). Registration is required by April 30 and can be done at events.dcnr.pa.gov or by calling 724-794-6011.
- Sunrise to Sunset May 8 to 16 Self-guided Spring Wildflower Walkabout. Discover the personality, folklore and history of the season's first blooms on this self-guided walk along one of Jennings' trails. This program is free and no registration is required. Visitors can pick up a guide and follow a designated route to discover the secrets of spring wildflowers.
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 or 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 to 13. Family Science Outside: Wonders of Wildflowers. This experience includes an in-person or virtual introduction from Jennings staff, featuring guidance on how to identify and study wildflowers and what to expect during your visit to Jennings. As a precaution against COVID-19, all in-person programs have been canceled and the exhibit area/classroom within the center is closed until further notice.
Trails remain open from sunrise to sunset. Prairie-side restrooms will remain open. Center side restrooms can be accessed from the back doors of the building from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
Masks are required to enter all buildings, but are not required while hiking alone on the trails. It's suggested to have a mask with you in case you encounter other hikers.
