Man who flashed gun during road-rage incident arrested

A Gibsonia man was arrested Friday for allegedly flashing a gun on Interstate 79 in a road-rage incident.

Joseph A. McLean, 48, was charged with four misdemeanors, including terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct for the incident in Worth Township.

McLean told police his father-and-son accusers flashed an obscene hand gesture during the incident, according to charging documents.

After his arraignment, McLean was released on $12,000 unsecured bond.

The father told police he was driving south in the left lane near mile marker 103 when the incident occurred.

He told police McLean “waived a pistol at him and his son, and then he cut them off (with his vehicle).” He said they called 911 after McLean “brake-checked them.”

Police said they talked with McLean, who said he was heading home. According to police, McLean alleged the obscene gestures were flashed and stated the accusers were driving erratically and almost struck his vehicle.

“He advised he feared for his life, so he moved his gun from the driver door panel to the center console due to a bad arm,” police said.

McLean told police he recently had shoulder surgery.

McLean is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing May 19 before District Judge William O'Donnell.
