Butler Catholic’s varsity boys track and field team placed fourth out of 15 schools at the Pittsburgh Diocese Championships recently.

Michael Braun, Nathan Maher and Conner Bradrick won multiple medals for the Saints. Braun took first in the 800 meters with a meet record time of 2 minutes, 16 seconds. He placed third in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs.

Maher claimed second in a photo finish in the 100 meters, running a 12.4. He was third in the 400 in 56.25 and was one of three runners to break the previous meet record.

Maher also took third in the 200 meters and was one of three throwers to break the previous meet shot put record, taking third at 40 feet, 4.5 inches.

Bradrick was sixth in the 3,200 and seventh in the 1,600.

In junior varsity girls (grades 5-6):

- Katy Short placed fourth in the 400, eighth in the 100 and 200 meters.

- Butler Catholic took fifth overall in junior varsity boys:

- Brendan Eicher was second in the 800 and 1,600 meters, fifth in the 400 and sixth in the 3,200.

- Noah Weiland placed eighth in the 1,600.

- Jackson Stewart was fifth in the 100.

- Mateo Saspe was fourth in the long jump.

- The 4x100 relay team of Weiland, Evan Briggs, Noah Simmons and Stewart placed eighth.
