The Butler County Commissioners on Wednesday:
Approved the purchase of a heavy-duty pickup truck to pull the new mobile command post trailer recently acquired by the county emergency services department. The truck costs $59,686, but part of the purchase will be paid through grant funds.
Approved hiring Butler Floor and Carpet to replace the Butler County logo inlaid in the floor of the county government center lobby. The cost is $1,700.
Approved an agreement with Rapid Financial Solutions to pay jurors using a debit card instead of cash or checks. The jury pools were paid with cash and those selected to serve on a jury were paid with checks, but during the coronavirus pandemic, all were paid with checks. The cards will preclude the county from processing 200 or more checks for a single trial. The cost will be 55 cents per juror, which is less than buying checks and envelopes and stamps to mail them.
Approved adding the hallucinogenic drug known as “bath salts” to the list of substances suspects and inmates are tested for. The addition will cost $37 per panel.
Approved a $25,303 contract with Gordian/Clark Contractors for design services in the update of the office space of District Judge William Fullerton in Butler.
Approved donating the county sheriff’s office old K-9 vehicle to the K-9 unit at the Butler City Police Department.
Tabled the bids for the water line project in Marion Township and the Slippery Rock Park project. The seven water line bids ranged from $71,350 from a Tionesta, Forest County company, to $235,000 from a firm in Grove City. The four park bids came in between $97,468 and $155,555.
