Mary Alice Parsons
Mary Alice Parsons, 97, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away at 9:55 p.m. May 6, 2021, at Tidewell Hospice at Venice Regional Bayfront Health.
She was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Albert L. McCandless and Floy (McCandless) McCandless.
Mary Alice was a member of First Baptist Church in Butler, and South Venice Baptist Church in Venice.
She worked as a registered nurse for 32 years at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was a graduate of the Butler Memorial Hospital nursing program, and a member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni. She was active in her church.
Mary Alice is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Richard) Gadzia of Venice, Fla., Kathy Martynuska of Grove City, and Patti (Patricia) Beil of Lisbon, Ohio; four grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Parsons, whom she married on Sept. 30, 1944, and who passed away on June 15, 2001; and four sisters.
Mary Alice enjoyed family gatherings, knitting and crocheting, card club and other games, baking, Bible study, church activities and long walks.
PARSONS — Friends of Mary Alice Parsons, who died Thursday, May 6, 2021, will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday with a funeral service immediately following at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 221 New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.
