Small schools find athletes on list
The all-time honor roll is dominated by big schools like Butler and Seneca Valley.
But some athletes from the area's smaller schools have found their way into the mix.
A-C Valley's Baylee Blauser is one of them.
Blauser hit 18 feet, 3½ inches in the long jump this season to put her at third on the all-time list.
She's just two inches from second on the list (Butler's Annessa Schnur) and six inches from the top spot (Mars' Lydia Dennis).
“I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know I was that far up there,” said Blauser, who will be a senior at A-C Valley. “That means a lot to me. I want to get 19 feet. That's my goal.”
A-C Valley does have two athletes at No. 1 on the all-time honor roll.
Ralph Wideman has held the top spot in the triple jump since 1988. That year, he posted a 48-5 mark.
Bruce Hughes has him beat. Hughes has held on to the all-time javelin throw (at 220-8) since 1971. That's now the oldest performance at No. 1 on the all-time honor roll.
Moniteau's Maura Kimmel is also a small-school athlete who turned in all-time honor roll performances.
Kimmel has the top throw in the girls shot put and the No. 2 throw in the discus.
Butler dominance
It's no surprise that Butler has the most entries on the all-time honor roll in both boys and girls.
Individually, Annessa Schnur still appears more than any other athlete. She is in the top five 11 times in seven events.
Rare air
Only three athletes appear at No. 1 more than once.
Butler's Liz Simms is the only one who has her name on top of three events — the 3,200 and 1,600 relays and in the 800 run.Knoch's Jordan Geist (shot put and discus) and Philogene in the 400 and 1,600 relay appear twice.
