Dorothy Johnston

Dorothy Johnston

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend. Dorothy J. “Dottie” Johnston, 63, of Renfrew, passed away on Friday morning, May 28, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Butler, on July 25, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Patricia Risdon Schnur.

Dottie was co-owner of the Scoreboard Lounge in Valencia with her husband Joe. She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.

Dottie enjoyed golfing with her husband and children as well as taking care of her home and her yard. Her greatest joy came from being the best Nana and mother. What family and friends will remember most is the generosity of her heart and always getting two hugs. If anyone needed her, she dropped whatever she was doing and helped, no questions. Our world will be different and never the same with the hole that is left in our lives.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph F. Johnston, whom she married on Sept. 17, 1977; two sons, Matthew Johnston (Alana) of Saxonburg and Brandon Johnston (Melanee) of Cranberry Township; her daughter, Tricia Stalker (Lee) of Kent, Ohio; her beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn and Cam Johnston, Hunter Johnston and Kaia and Tatum Stalker; and her sister, Pattie DeNunzio (Charlie) of Salt Lake City, Utah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard and Stephen Schnur.

In honor of our Dottie — if someone asks for help with something, don’t just do what is asked, go a little further — leave it better than you found it, like she did.
