Edward Mikolas

Edward S. Mikolas of Cabot, Winfield Township, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospice after a brief illness.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1930, in Springdale, and was the son of the late Steve J. and Mary C. (Tabacheck) Mikolas.

He was an avid gardener and loved to take care of his yard. He was an accomplished woodcrafter and built his own home. He played the accordion in his younger days, winning many competitions and providing beautiful music for many.

He enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict, serving in St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. He retired from Oberg Industries, Freeport, after 33 years of service.He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Worship Site, Cabot and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.He belonged to the Krivan Hall, Springdale, Sarver Vets, American Legion, Wilcox, and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.He is survived by his son, Dr. Kenneth (Victoria) Mikolas; and daughters, Diane (Ernest) Bragiel and Kathleen (Thomas) Goldscheitter. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gary J. (Kellie) Patz, Brandy Molloy, Alex Mikolas, Emily Goldscheitter, Sarah Goldscheitter, Dr. Andrea (Dr. Shawn Milloway) Bragiel and Stephanie Bragiel; two great-grandsons, Carson Molloy and Sawyer Goldscheitter; brother, Robert Mikolas, and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Georgina H. Mikolas in December 2019, his parents; a sister, Frances Mikolas, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.The family would like to thank the staff at Butler Memorial Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospice for the excellent care and compassion shown to our father and grandfather over the past two weeks. You all are truly angels on earth.Mikolas — Friends of Edward S. Mikolas who died Saturday, June 5, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Worship Site, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot.Interment with military honors conducted by the American Legion #683 will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.For more information, please visit www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
