Police investigate murder-suicide of 2 Evans City men
State police are investigating a murder-suicide in Butler County involving two men from Evans City.
According to a Sunday news release, police believe Charles Smith, 46, shot and killed Terry Bolan, 39, before killing himself.
Butler County Coroner William F. Young III said autopsies were performed on both men and found gun shot wounds to both had caused their deaths.
Police said they were called around 1:15 p.m. Saturday to West Sunbury Cemetery in Clay Township for a report of a suicidal man.
“Upon arrival, state police members discovered (Smith) deceased by a self-inflicted gun shot wound,” police said.
According to Young, Smith's gunshot wound was to the torso.
Around the same time, police were called to Hillvue Lane in Forward Township, where another body was found and identified as Bolan.
“Through investigation, it was determined that (Smith) shot (Bolan) prior to fleeing to the cemetery and taking his own life,” police said.
