Charles Carroll Manning

Charles Carroll Manning, 89, of Saxonburg, passed away on June 16, 2021, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born June 20, 1931, in Murrysville, he was the son of Marion Scully Manning and Virginia Barr Manning.

Chuck graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1949, and completed his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years in Korea during the war.

Chuck worked as a business manager for over 30 years.

In retirement, he was a substitute teacher at South Butler County School District, and a bus driver.

Chuck was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, flower gardening and golfing.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia (Robert) Conterno of Cabot, and Lynn (Rodney) Gibbons of Asheville, N.C.; his brother, Daniel (Francie) Manning of Gilroy, Calif.; four grandchildren, Carly Conterno, Cole Conterno, Michele (Matthew) Paynter and Michael Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Samuel, Daniel, Nathanael, and Ezekiel Paynter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marion “Bill” Manning and Thomas Manning; and one sister, Virginia “Dee Dee” Manning-Conwell.
