Ellen Schlichtkrull

Ellen M. Schlichtkrull, 90, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 16, 1931, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Monper and Ellen Templer Monper.

Ellen passionately loved her dogs, and in 1972, she opened “Schlichtkrull’s Country Kennels” in Harmony. She owned and operated the boarding kennel for 15 years. She also worked at Bentley Industries for a period of time. At the start of her retirement, in order to keep busy, she worked in the dining room at the Burger King in Zelienople.

Ellen will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, William (Ann) Schlichtkrull; her daughters, Gail Schooley and Karen Wright; her eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Schlichtkrull, who passed away on Nov. 25, 1963; and her two sons-in-law, Richard Schooley and Richard Wright.

SCHLICHTKRULL — Per her wishes, services for Ellen M. Schlichtkrull, who died Saturday, June 26, 2021, will be held privately for the immediate family.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church (HZUMC), or to the Butler County Humane Society.
