Daniel Jay "Dan" Harlan

Daniel Jay “Dan” Harlan, 59, of Butler passed away on July 1, 2021, at his residence.

He was born June 11, 1962, in Butler, and was the son of the late Bryce Bonner Harlan and the late Josephine M. Heasly Harlan.

Dan worked as a crew member at Pizza Hut for many years, and later worked at the ARC of Butler County Sheltered Workshop.

He loved sports and horseback riding, and competed in various events of the Special Olympics held at Penn State every year. In 1999, he received the Butler County Special Olympics Athlete of the Year award. Dan also enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing the drums. He created friends everywhere, with his big smile and warm, outgoing personality.

Daniel is survived by his three sisters, Pamela (John) Bowman, Kathy (Daryl) Kemerer and Billie (Nancy) Harlan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bryce Harlan Jr.

HARLAN — Friends of Daniel Jay “Dan” Harlan, who died Thursday, July 1, 2021, will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. David Hicks (retired) officiating.

Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.
