James Murphy

James Thomas Murphy, 70, of Butler, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, while under the care of the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.

Born March 29, 1951, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Murphy Sr. and Elnora Jones Murphy.

Jim was a Christian by faith. His passion in life was his work. He did contracting work for United Telephone and Bell of PA and then as a locomotive operator at AK Steel, retiring in 2006. In addition, he was a skilled worker in the building trades. Above all, Jim will be remembered as a family man who made his home his most important priority. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Paula Schildknecht Murphy, whom he married on Feb. 19, 1971; his son, James T. (Megan) Murphy II of Portersville; his grandchildren, Jake Thomas Murphy and Braydon Sloan; his siblings, LeeRoy Pat (Tina) Murphy of Bad Axe, Mich., Brenda Jones and Carolyn (Jack) Davis, both of Louisville, Ky.; his many nieces and nephews; his childhood friend, Michael Murphy of Louisville, Ky.; and his good friend, John White of Butler.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his infant siblings, Woodrow Wilson Murphy Jr. and Patricia Murphy; his brother, Gary Eugene Murphy; his sister-in-law, Muriel Murphy; and his brother-in-law, David Paul Jones.

Murphy — Friends of James Thomas Murphy, who died Friday, July 2, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m.. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew. Jim will be laid to rest at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.
