Loretta Weitzel

Loretta J. Weitzel, 76, of East Brady, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, after an extended illness.

Born Feb. 23, 1945, she was the daughter of Ellis F. “Dick” and Estella L. (Mays) Reitz.

On June 13, 1969, Loretta married Terry L. Weitzel; he survives.

Loretta had a 30-year career caring for patients at Sugarcreek Rest, both as an aide and, later, as an LPN. She left a lasting impact on the residents and staff.

A loving and involved mom, Loretta enjoyed leading her children in whatever activity they chose to participate. From Girl Scout Leader to cheerleading, she guided and supported her kids. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved the time with her family and grandchildren. She was also a longtime member of St. Paul's Community Church in Sugarcreek.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Weitzel of East Brady; two sons, Norman Foust and wife, Cindy of Petaluma, Calif., and Dale Cady of Hilliards; and two daughters, Holly Reedy and husband, Scott, of East Brady and Shana Stevens and husband, John, of Rimersburg.

Loretta is also survived by two grandsons, Zebulun Reedy and Brandon Weitzel; four granddaughters, Machaela Cady, Ev Reedy, Emerson Stevens and Bailey Stevens; three sisters, Judy Drushel and husband, Gary, of Butler, Cheryl Mervis of Logan, Ohio, Lori Simpson and husband, Doug, of Queenstown; one brother-in-law, John Brinkley of Zelienople and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; Amy Foust; and one sister, Mary Lou Brinkley.

Weitzel — Friends of Loretta J. Weitzel, who died Sunday, July 11, 2021, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kelly Way, East Brady.

Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Sapp Jr., officiating.

Burial will be private.
