Evangeline Fonseca

Evangeline M. Fonseca, 97, of Butler, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1923, in 5 Mine, Springfield Township, Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Emma (Naddeo) Moretti.

She had previously worked for the Cooper Bessemer Railroad as an executive secretary for the purchasing agent.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Women and Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Butler High School Football Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, readings and gardening. She cherished sporting activities with her grandchildren. She was a loyal supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Surviving is her daughter, Terri (Richard) Albert of Butler; and her son, Arnold (Laura) Fonseca of Murrysville; six grandchildren, Angelique Fonseca, Nikalette Fonseca and her fiance, Ryan Mulraney, and Gionna Fonseca, Jonathan (Leah) Albert, and Audra and Christopher Albert; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold V. Fonseca, who passed away Jan. 17, 2009, they were married Nov. 19, 1953; and three brothers and two sisters.

Fonseca — Visitation will be private for Evangeline M. Fonseca, who died Thursday July 22, 2021.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean St., Butler.

Entombment also will be held privately.

Arrangements are by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St., Butler.
