James Thompson

James O. Thompson, 85, of Butler, passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia.

James was born on June 28, 1936, in Butler, and was a son of the late Orrie Thompson and the late Anna Bryson Thompson.

He served in the military at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey.He worked at Pullman Standard, until it closed, and then at Slippery Rock School District in maintenance until his retirement.James is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Dean) Brown of West Sunbury; two sons, Robert “Buzz” (Peg) Thompson of Slippery Rock and James (Deb) Thompson of Slippery Rock; one stepdaughter, Debbie Miller of Butler; five grandchildren, Mike (Lynda) Brown, Kristen Brown, Kevin Christy, Luke Osborne and Jake Coulter; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Lexi Brown; and several stepgrandchildren.James is also survived by one sister, Betty Pappas.James was preceded in death by his wife, Linda C. Thompson, who passed away Feb. 14, 2021; four sisters; and one brother.THOMPSON — Funeral services were private for James O. Thompson, who died Friday, Aug. 20, 2021.Burial was held in Slippery Rock Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 249, Lyndora American Legion Post 778, and Butler American Legion Post 117.Arrangements were handled by William F.
