Butler County Board of Commissioners
The Butler County Commissioners on Wednesday:
4 Announced that every Tuesday and Thursday through the Nov. 2 general election, the elections bureau in the county government building will be open until 6:30 p.m. Voters can cast their ballots at the bureau offices up until election day.
4 Approved a 20-year agreement between the county and Pennsylvania State Police that will allow the county 911 center to dispatch state troopers from Troop D in Butler Township to a scene when necessary. Steve Bicehouse, the county’s director of emergency services, said the state police will maintain their dispatch center so they can dispatch troopers as well. Bicehouse said the technology was not available before the county upgraded its 911 system recenty.
4 Approved a contract amendment with the Alliance for Nonprofit Resources to include the vaccination call center as a funded program in the amount of $35,450. Brandon Savochka, the county human services director, said the Area Agency on Aging, Center for Community Resources and Butler Health System previously helped schedule COVID-19 vaccinations for country residents who are unable to schedule one online. He said the ANR vaccination call center took only 10 to 12 calls for vaccination scheduling in the past few months, but fielded 260 calls just last week from those looking to schedule a booster shot. Many who use the vaccination call center are senior citizens. Those who cannot schedule a vaccine appointment online can call the vaccination center at 1-888-550-7468, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
4 Approved a preliminary engineering agreement with HRG Engineering for the Kelly Bridge in Worth Township at a price not to exceed $406,124. Federal grant funds and money from the county’s $5 drivers license fee will fund the agreement. Kevin Gray, the county’s bridge and fleet director, said construction on the bridge could begin in 2023.
