Furrie V. Bonetti

Furrie V. Bonetti, 92, of Slippery Rock passed away Sept. 17, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Furrie was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Boyers. He was the son of the late James and Minnie “Diane” Bonetti.

Furrie received his education in Boyers.Furrie married Dora A. Leone on Nov. 15, 1952. The couple would have celebrated 69 years of marriage this November.Furrie retired from Slippery Rock University in 1991, where he worked in the maintenance department. Before working at the college, Furrie worked at Pullman Standard in Butler for 20 years.Furrie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He fought in the Korean War on the front lines for 10 months and 8 days.Furrie was deeply devoted to his wife and family. He provided his family with all that was denied him while growing up during the Great Depression. His love of life was reflected in his engaging personality and his constant smile. To the end, he reached out to family and friends to engage in conversation and ensure they were okay.Furrie took great pride in the home which he built and continued to maintain until recently. He was an avid gardener and provided special care to his beloved geraniums. Furrie enjoyed woodworking, and had recently built birdhouses for each of his children and grandchildren.Furrie was a member of St. Peter Parish in Slippery Rock, and was a former member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Boyers. He was also a member of the former Sons of Italy in Boyers, Grove City Knights of Columbus, VFW in Slippery Rock, and Disabled American Veterans.Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dora of Slippery Rock; his son, Dennis Bonetti and his wife, Patricia, of Hollidaysburg; and his daughters, Darlene Marnich of Grove City, and Deborah Giroux and her husband, Rob, of Virginia Beach, Va.His grandchildren, Matt, Spencer, Trevor and Zachary all cherish their grandfather.His siblings Eugene Bonetti of Butler, James (Marge) Bonetti of Boyers, Virginia Hockenberry of Harrisville and Carmela Critchlow (Bob) of Butler, also survive.Furrie was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; six brothers; and his son-in-law, Jim Marnich.BONETTI — The family of Furrie V. Bonetti, who died Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, will welcome friends and family from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Jamison McKinley Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.The funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. Adam Verona will conduct the funeral Mass.The family requests COVID-19 guidelines be followed and asks that facial coverings be worn during the visitation and also the funeral Mass.Burial will take place at Epiphany Cemetery in Boyers.Friends and family can email condolences by visiting www.jamisonfuneralhome.com.
