New Castle man, 82, found

State Police in Kittanning are asking the public to keep a lookout for Fred Fair, 82, who went into the woods at about 1 p.m. on Thursday near Watersonville and Sherry roads in Washington Township, Armstrong County. Police say Fair intended to scout for a hunting spot.

UPDATE: A New Castle man in his 80s who went missing in Armstrong County after entering the woods Thursday was found alive Friday morning.

State Police in Kittanning had asked the public to keep a lookout for Fred Fair, 82, who went into the woods at about 1 p.m. Thursday near Watersonville and Sherry roads in Washington Township, Armstrong County. Police say Fair intended to scout for a hunting spot.

His vehicle was found in a parking lot near the area where Fair entered the woods. Fair's wallet was not in the vehicle and he does not carry a cellphone, according to police.

Search dogs, firefighters and aviation tools were used to try and locate Fair. At approximately 11 a.m., he was located alive and transported to a local hospital.
