Helen Olenic

Helen Olenic

Helen Olenic, 88, of Butler, passed away at Lowrie Place Assisted Living on Oct. 20, 2021.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1932, in Highfield, and was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Tillie (Ewanishek) Olenic.

In her early years, she was employed by Morrison Candy Company and Bobbie Brooks Clothing Company. For the next 35 years, until her retirement in 2006, Helen was the personal housemaid/caregiver and dear friend to the late Emma Margaret “Peggy” Williams.

Helen was such a faith-filled person and a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

She was a very selfless, loving and giving person to all her family and everyone she knew, and she always shared a cheerful smile. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, doing word search, and most of all she loved spending time with family.

She is survived by four siblings, John Jr., George, Ann Yannotty and Julia Walek, all of Butler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by five brothers, Michael, Alex, Martin, Andy and Paul, as well as four nephews and one niece.

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the caregivers and Lowrie Place staff, especially her special nurse, Tracy, for all their loving care and compassion shown to Helen the last three years. Another special angel is in Heaven for us who will be very dearly missed and forever loved.

OLENIC — Per her wishes, there was no visitation, and burial was private for Helen Olenic, who died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

Memorial donations may be made to SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen St., Lyndora, PA 16045, being marked as “memorial gift in memory of Helen Olenic.”
