Rebecca Ann Foster “Grammie” Gitzen, 71, of Prospect, passed away on Oct. 24, 2021.

She was born March 25, 1950, in Bellevue, and was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Foster and the late Esther Marcella Hess.

Rebecca graduated from Avonworth High School in 1968.

She worked for Cranberry Chiropractic Clinic in Cranberry.

Rebecca was a member of A.C.T.S. Choir, where she loved to sing. She enjoyed taking care of her family and loving on her great-grandchildren. Rebecca liked reading.

She attended West Liberty United Methodist Church in West Liberty, and Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church in Butler. Rebecca took pleasure in helping with her church. She enjoyed performing as Mrs. Claus at Christmas with her son Glen.

Rebecca is survived by her two sons, David James (Karla) Gitzen of Connoquenessing, and Glen Foster Gitzen of Prospect; four grandchildren, Dustin (Autumn) Gitzen, Hunter Manuel, Marlee (DJ) Osche and Aspen Weitzel; three great-grandchildren, Ariah Gitzen, Maverick Osche and Emmett Osche; three brothers, Lenus (Mary Dee) Foster, Stanley (Darlene) Foster and Kendall (Aldine) Foster; three nieces, Terri (Bruce) Edwards, Tracey (Michael) Mullen and Becky Foster; her nephew, Matthew Foster; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Gitzen, whom she married on July 6, 1973; and who passed away on April 3, 1997; and one brother, David Foster.

GITZEN — Friends of Rebecca Ann Foster “Grammie” Gitzen, who died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, will be received from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 West Old Route 422, Butler, with a funeral service immediately following at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Ron Schermerhorn officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Memorials are suggested to the Prospect Community Library, 357 Main St., Prospect, PA 16052, or to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., 16001 to defray the cost of the funeral.
