Adams Light Up Night returns this Friday
Adams Township's Light Up Night will return for its second annual event from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Friday.
The event, sponsored by Mars Bank, will feature a drive-through path of holiday lights in the Adams Township Community Park, along with fireworks and the chance to see Santa.
“We did the light show last year, and we doubled or tripled the lights this year,” said Adams Parks and Recreation director Haley Geyer. “We're doing the Light Up Night in the park, so it's a drive-through throughout the park, with Christmas lights all over.”
Carolers from the Mars Area High School choir will perform, and Santa will say hello to residents in their cars driving by from 6 to 8 p.m. A bonfire and hot chocolate will round out the evening. The fireworks show by Little Big Shots will start at 8:15 p.m.
The event is free, and the township is asking residents to bring nonperishable food and home item donations for the Lighthouse Foundation to drop off in front of the township Municipal Building.
The holiday lights in the park will remain on display until Jan. 7, and will turn on at dusk each day.“With putting up lights and everything, it's nice because it stays up for a whole month,” Geyer said. “It gives people the chance to see and view it throughout the whole month, and a lot of people come more than once. It's an opportunity to give to the community.”Throughout December, children will have the opportunity to drop off a letter to Santa in the red mailbox outside the front doors of the Municipal Building.Geyer said that the township hopes to bring the event back each year, and that last year the event was very popular.“We want to make it bigger each year,” she said.
