M. Cheryl Miller-Stark

M. Cheryl “Sherry” Miller-Stark, 72, of Chicora, went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Cheryl was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Arnold J. “Zeke” and Mildred “Mid” Hutchison.

Sherry was a 1966 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School.

In her earlier years, Sherry had attended the Chicora United Methodist Church and later, the North Street Christian Church in Butler, where she had served as secretary for many years.

Sherry had been employed for many years at various local banks as a teller, beginning her career at the former Mellon Bank in Chicora. She later had worked in various other administrative positions in the Butler area.

Sherry had a well-known love of music, and was a church organist and pianist for many area churches. She and her husband had their own band, affectionately named for Sherry, “Sweetie and the Boys.” They enjoyed traveling with the band.

Sherry was an accomplished seamstress, and she enjoyed Chinese food and golfing. She was an avid dog lover and was especially fond of her imperial Shih Tzus, “Bruce and Princess.”

Surviving are her husband, Donald E. “Gene” Stark, whom she married in the Poconos on May 27, 2010.

Also surviving is a daughter, Terri L. Buonpane and her husband, John, of Sandy Lake; three sons, Darren J. Miller and his wife, Corinne, of Moon Township, Pastor Jeffrey S. Miller and his wife, Erin, of Economy, and Jared R. Miller of Virginia; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Barnhart of Chicora; a stepdaughter, Sherri McMahon and her husband, Mike; her mother-in-law, Florence Stark of Punxsutawney; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Hutchison of Melbourne, Fla., Darlene Hoffman and Greta Walker; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard G. “Dick” Miller; her grandson, Braden; her brother, Donald Hutchison; and a brother-in-law, Dale “Bud” Barnhart.

MILLER-STARK — A private visitation and funeral service for M. Cheryl “Sherry” Miller-Stark, who died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, was held at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, and was officiated by her son, Pastor Jeffrey S. Miller Sr., pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel Pittsburgh North.

Interment was in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
