Gary J. Gerner

Gary J. Gerner, 73, of Cranberry Township passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at his home.

Born Sept. 9, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Piech) Gerner.

Gary was the beloved husband of Patricia (Rygiel) Gerner, whom he married on Sept. 19, 1980; the loving stepfather of Diana (Michael) Ammer and Rita (Derek) Ernst; pappy of Michael, Christopher, Gabe and Arabella; and great-grandfather of Henry.

Gary is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, and many loving relatives and friends, who will all miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his sister and two brothers.

Gary had a passion for Civil War history and history in general. He was certified in skydiving with 17 jumps.

GERNER — Family and friends of Gary J. Gerner, who died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Kilian Church with the Rev. Charles Bober celebrating the Mass.

Interment will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery on Cemetery Lane in the North Hills.
