Diane L. Walkowiak

On Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, Diane L. Walkowiak passed away peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living in McCandless. Fittingly, it was “All Saints Day.”

Diane was the daughter of Louise and William McElrath of Wilkinsburg.

She attended Clarion University, where she earned her teaching certificate in elementary education, and eventually met her husband of 58 years, Leonard.

She taught in the Butler Area School District for 28 years, while raising two boys, Tim and his wife, Richelle, of Wexford, and Dan and his wife, Amanda, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

She also had six grandchildren that she absolutely adored and vice-versa. She was “Mee-Maw” to Michael, 19; Carlie, 19; Thomas, 17; Joey, 14; Sam, 12; and Eva, 10.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy and her husband, Walter Goch; her nieces, Gerriann and Marc Nagle, and Diane and Jeff Mechling; her cousin, Janet and Bill Mauch; and her niece, Sharon and Tony Sutton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; and her mother and father.

WALKOWIAK — Friends of Diane L. Walkowiak, who died Monday, Nov. 1 2021, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
