Terry Mershimer
Terry Lynn Mershimer, 66, of Slippery Rock, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a hard-fought 6-week battle with COVID-19.
Terry was born July 28, 1955, in Butler, to Donald Mershimer and Shirley Gladd Mershimer.
He married Jean Anne McConnell on Sept. 11, 1999.
He graduated from Moniteau High School and attended Beaver County Community College, where he received a degree in auto body technology.He retired from GCL Inc., in Butler, after 16 years of employment.Terry enjoyed hunting, repairing things, restoring vehicles, riding his Harley, camping, spending time with his family, and helping neighbors in the community.He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving honorably from 1972 until 1974, including service in Vietnam. He received a Letter of Commendation for his technical knowledge and professionalism as an artillery mechanic.Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Terri (Aaron) Smith of New Castle, and Crissa (Willie Richards) Mershimer of Harrisville; his parents, Donald and Shirley Mershimer of Slippery Rock; his grandchildren, Finley and Greyson Smith; his stepdaughter, Jody (Lance) Naylor of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two stepsons, Josh Gerhard and Joe-Ben Gerhard, both of Pittsburgh; his brother, Gary (Deb) Mershimer of Butler; three sisters, Linda (Darwin) Koebler of West Sunbury, Cathy (Bill) Bartley of Slippery Rock and Donna (Don) Malinski of Butler; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.MERSHIMER — At the request of the family, services will not be held at this time for Terry Lynn Mershimer, who died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.Arrangements were handled by Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Butler County Veterans in Need, Veterans in Need Funds, 143 Denny Road, Valencia, PA 16059; or North Trails Public Library, 1553 W.
