Humane society names new executive director
The Butler County Humane Society has named Cari Ciancio as its new executive director.
Ciancio, a Pittsburgh native, brings 14 years of experience in animal welfare to the position. She previously served as director of operations at the Humane Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh.
Cindy Cipoletti, co-president of the humane society board, said they are thrilled to welcome Ciancio to the team.
“Having (Ciancio) at the helm to lead our dedicated staff and volunteers will be essential as we continue to grow and serve the Butler County community,” Cipoletti said.
According to Ciancio, she’s had a good experience with the staff and board in her first days on the job.
“The staff’s been very friendly. It’s a family-like atmosphere. They love the animals, bringing them out of their crates to play with them and going the extra mile for them,” Ciancio said.
Ciancio hopes to expand existing programs at the society.
“I want to add to the foster program. I have tons of ideas forming in my head,” she said. “The board has been very supportive and the staff being so dedicated allows for creativity and flexibility moving forward. It gives us room to experiment with what we can offer the community.”
The recent donations Jan. 17 in honor of what would have been television star Betty White’s 100th birthday were impressive to Ciancio.
“The money we raised in a few days has been incredible,” Ciancio said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the community that supports us so much.”
