John Steinacker

John Robert Steinacker, 94, formerly of Marion Township, Beaver County, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Concordia Personal Care at Villa St. Joseph in Baden.

Born June 26, 1927, in New Sewickley Township, he was the son of the late Manuel and Matilda (Wahl) Steinacker.

Mr. Steinacker was a member of St. John's Burry's Church in New Sewickley Township. He retired in 1991 from Halstead Industries of Zelienople, with 30 years of employment.

He was a life member of Big Knob Volunteer Fire Department with 22 years of active service, also serving as fire chief for a number of years.

He cherished his time with family, and also enjoyed woodworking, traveling and time spent at a hunting camp near Ridgway, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred B. Steinacker, whom he married on Aug. 16, 1968; one son, George (Carol) Steinacker of New Sewickley Township; two daughters, Patty (Skip) Wachter of Dauphin, Pa., and Peggy (Tim) Long of Palmyra, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Molly Steinacker; eight grandchildren, Megan (Colin) Heitzmann, Anne (Mike) Wagner, Kimberly (Seth) Cavanaugh, Sara (Ben) Murphy, Melinda (John) Buffington, Katie (Neil) Frohnapple, Courtney Wachter and Derek (Brooke) Wachter; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his three stepchildren, Carol (George) Steinacker of New Sewickley Township, Diane Olpere of North Wales, Pa., and Dale (Joyce) Beighey of Fombell; six stepgrandchildren, Lindsey (David) Kriegel, Kelsey (Joe) Frederick, Tracey (Joey) Stassi, Colby Beighey, Tristan Beighey and Sierra Beighey; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Also surviving are numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris McCullough Steinacker, who died on Dec. 10, 1966; a son, David Steinacker, who passed away on Jan. 29, 2010; a stepson-in-law, Daniel Olpere; a brother, James Steinacker; and two sisters, Ethel Goehring and Eleanor Schomburg.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Concordia Personal Care at Villa St. Joseph and Good Samaritan Hospice for their attentive care and support.

STEINACKER — Family and friends of John Robert Steinacker, who died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday at Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, Pa. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Fanella of St. John's Burry's Church.

Due to increasing COVID-19 concerns, social distancing and the wearing of masks will be required for visitation and funeral service.
