Adams Twp

Jan. 11 — Zachary R. Kraus, 22, of Cranberry Township, was charged with a first-offense DUI after they found him slumped over in his vehicle on the 1000 block of Aster Way in Adams Township.

Police said they noticed a running vehicle with no driver and when they looked closer, they found Kraus inside. Police said after waking him, they smelled alcohol in the vehicle, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired.

Police said a breath test showed Kraus’ blood-alcohol content at .231%, and in Pennsylvania a level of .08% or greater is considered intoxicated.

Butler

Jan. 11 — David E. Lamison, 58, of Butler, was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession, related to a Dec. 3 traffic stop on the 200 block of North Chestnut Street in Butler.

Police said they stopped the vehicle after seeing Lamison stopped briefly at a home known for drug activity. Police said during the traffic stop, they asked if drugs were in the vehicle, and Lamison admitted to having crack cocaine in his pocket, which police recovered.

Jan. 10 — Nichole F. Eremia, 33, of Butler, was charged with drug possession, related to a Dec. 15 dispatch of a woman passed out in a vehicle on the 200 block of Cecelia Street in Butler.

Police said they found Eremia in the described vehicle, and she was not awake. Police said after waking her she appeared intoxicated, and police found buprenorphine and suboxone in the center console.

Evans City Seven Fields Regional

Jan. 4 — Dean H. Dawson, 60, of Renfrew, was charged with DUI, related to a Dec. 31 crash into the Uni Mart building in Evans City.

Police said when they arrived Dawson was eating a chocolate bar and blamed the crash on bad hips. Police said they smelled alcohol coming from Dawson, and Dawson insisted on attempting field sobriety tests, which were stopped after he fell.

Police said a later blood test showed Dawson’s blood-alcohol content at .156%, and in Pennsylvania a level of .08% or greater is considered intoxicated.

Mars

Jan. 12 — Keith Smith, 65, of Cranberry Township, was charged with felony theft and receiving stolen property, related to a vehicle left with Oilology, an auto repair shop in Mars.

Police said Smith, the shop’s owner, agreed to repair a customer’s vehicle for about $2,500 and agreed to conduct the repairs. The woman told police Smith agreed to take payments over several months for the transaction, and when she finished paying, the vehicle could not be found.

Police said Smith admitted to having the vehicle towed and refused to reveal the location, but claimed he gave the woman notice. Police said Smith failed to complete the necessary paperwork through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

State Police, Butler

Jan. 7 — Chad A. Wimer, 30, of Prospect, was charged with DUI following a Sept. 26 vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township.

Police said when they arrived Wimer was picking up vehicle parts from off the ground. Police said Wimer claimed a deer ran in front of the vehicle. Police said Wimer admitted to taking suboxone earlier in the day, and field sobriety tests and drug evaluations showed Wimer was impaired.

Police said a later blood test showed cocaine and buprenorphine was in Wimer’s system.

Jan. 2 — Charles D. Straessley, 33, of Evans City, was charged with DUI following a rollover vehicle crash on Spithaler School Road near Ruby Lane in Forward Township.

Police said Straessley claimed he swerved to avoid a deer, and officers smelled alcohol coming from him. Police said field sobriety tests showed Straessley was impaired.

Police said a breath test showed Straessley’s blood-alcohol content at .136%, and in Pennsylvania a level of .08% or greater is considered intoxicated.
