Richard T. “Dick” Kopnicky, 90, of Buffalo Township, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, while surrounded by his family at Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lower Burrell.

Dick was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Cassandra, Pa., and was a son of the late Anna Veronica (Kravetz) and John C. Kopnicky.

He was the widower of Betty J. (Metzger) Kopnicky, who passed in 2003. Dick served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He worked in the maintenance department at Oberg Industries for 24 years, retiring in 1992.Dick was a member of Guardian Angels Parish in Natrona Heights.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working around his house, and spending time with his family.Dick is survived by his children, Rebecca A. and Charles Jones of Buffalo Township, and Thomas J. and Tracy Kopnicky of Butler; his granddaughters, Jennifer (Brandon Phillips) Kopnicky, Kylee Kopnicky and Taylor Kopnicky; and his brother and sister-in-law, Patrick C. and Mardelle Kopnicky. In addition to his wife and parents, Rich was preceded in death by his sister, June Kopnicky. KOPNICKY — At the family's request, there will be no public visitation for Richard T. “Dick” Kopnicky, who died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Guardian Angels Parish in Natrona Heights.Burial will be held in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.Arrangements are under the direction of Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
