Saxonburg VFC orders new engine
A new fire engine will bolster the fleet of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company next year.
Chuck Lewis, fire company president, said the $650,000 Spartan fire engine will be built to specifications by 4 Guys Fire Trucks of Meyersdale, Somerset County.
The fire company recently ordered the new truck to replace a 1998 Pierce engine that no longer meets fire vehicle standards.
Lewis said the truck’s capacity will mimic that of the Pierce, with a 1,000-gallon tank and pump that can provide 1,500 gallons of water per minute.
The new truck also will have a seven-person cab, he said.
