Joseph E. Cook

Joseph E. Cook

Joseph “Joe” E. Cook, 75, of Seven Fields, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021.

Born June 12, 1946, in Gary, Ind., he was the son of the late Ernest A. Cook and Beth (McKelvey) Cook.

Joe graduated from Thiel College with a bachelor of social work and went on to earn his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

He worked for 40 years as a licensed social worker, which led to his proudest achievement of serving as the executive director of the Beaver County Mental Health Association.

Joe was artistically gifted and enjoyed working with charcoal. He was a very talented guitar player, using his gifts to earn money for college by playing acoustic gigs. He also loved playing soccer and watching his sons play a variety of sports.

Joe loved all things nautical and proudly decorated his house as a tribute to life on the seas and the many shipwrecks it caused over time. His proudest woodworking achievement was the HMS Bounty ship model that he crafted by hand. He also enjoyed sailing, especially at Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park.

Above all, Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his partner in life for 21 years, Heather A. (Foley) Cook; his sons, Joshua Andrew Cook (Cathy), Benjamin Tyler Cook (Kristy) and Nicholas Johnathan Cook; his grandchildren, Jonah Merritt Cook and Samuel “Sammy” Tyler Cook; his siblings, Nancy Cook and Larry Cook (Rebecca Turner DelReal); his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marlene B. and John T. Foley; his brother-in-law, Bill Kerish; his sister-in-law, Renee Foley-Lydon (Danny); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Candy (Cook) Kerish.
