Butler County residents will see temperatures reach the low-40s to kick off February, but by the end of the week, temperatures are expected to drop back down to the single-digit figures that were recorded throughout much of January.

Jared Rackley, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said a low-pressure system is making its way through the Tennessee Valley and is expected to hit Western Pennsylvania by Thursday, bringing with it some rain and possibly snow by the weekend.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be more mild, he said.
