Butler Art Center slates watercolor show
The Butler Art Center will feature six local artists in its “Color My World” watercolor show opening next week.
The show will run from Feb. 11 to 26.
According to board member Shirley McCauley, the show features 20 watercolor-on- paper pieces by local artists.
“It’s a very small, intimate show,” she said. “There are six artists featured, some are new to our gallery.”
McCauley said the Associated Artists of Butler County has not had a show featuring watercolor pieces for some time.
From 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 11, artists and the public can mingle at a reception to commemorate the opening of “Color My World.” Light refreshments will be served.
McCauley said the board has added a fun element to the reception for this show.
“What’s unique about this show is that we’re going to do a people’s choice award,” she said. “All of the pieces will be numbered, and people can vote for their favorite.”
The artist whose piece is deemed a crowd favorite will receive a $25 dollar gift card to Natili North restaurant on Main Street.
McCauley encouraged the public to attend the opening reception and visit the “Color My World” show as well as be on the lookout for a bigger show coming to the gallery in March.
“The next show is titled ‘This Community Is My Home’ and is produced by Madison Morrow, who is Miss Moraine State,” she said.
McCauley said the “Color My World” exhibit offers outstanding work in a beautiful space.
“It’s to see quality work and enjoy the gallery,” she said.
With the exception of the Feb. 11 reception, community members can view the “Color My World” show from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays until Feb. 26.
