Lois A. Fogal, 93, of Zelienople, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at Passavant Lutheran Retirement Community in Zelienople.

Lois, the daughter of A.E. and Elizabeth (George) Riethmiller, was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Mercer. She was the youngest of four children.

She was baptized at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mercer, and moved with her family to Butler, where she was confirmed at First English Lutheran.

She was a 1946 graduate of Butler High School.

She met Ralph Fogal, her husband of 68 years, while attending Thiel College, Greenville. She graduated with a teaching degree in 1950, and taught for three years at Parker High School in Parker, before she married Ralph at First English Lutheran Church in Butler, in 1953.

Together, she and Ralph served six Presbyterian churches in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio, during 35 years of active ministry, including a pulpit exchange in Hebburn, England, in 1974. Retiring to Wooster, Ohio, in 1988, Lois taught 11 years at WeeCare Child Care Center. She was ordained as a deacon and an elder in First Presbyterian Church in Wooster, Ohio, and spent three months with her husband, Ralph, as volunteers in mission at Sheldon Jackson College, Sitka, Alaska. They had lived at Passavant since 2001, where she had served as organist/choir director at Seaman Chapel for nearly 10 years.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Ralph G. Fogal; her daughter, Sylvia (Jim) Streufert; her son, Paul (Brianne) Fogal; five grandchildren, Alayna (Matt) Nederhoed, Karl (Dayna) Streufert, Kelsey Fogal, Erik (Janae) Streufert and Breana Fogal; six great-grandchildren, Adelynn, Ryland, Maybel and Ensley Nederhoed, and Owen and Evelyn Streufert; and her brother, Frank (Nancy) Riethmiller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Blair and Russell Riethmiller.

FOGAL — A memorial service for Lois A. Fogal, who died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, will be held for the family Saturday at Seaman Chapel, with the Rev. Freda Snyder and the Rev. Allen R. Riethmiller officiating.

Committal and burial will be in Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Greenfield, Pa.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
