The Butler Township planning commission granted conditional approval of a land development plan Tuesday for a Popeyes chicken restaurant in Alameda Plaza.

The commission conditionally approved the plan from PLK (Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen) Butler Township to build a restaurant with two drive-through service windows at the intersection of New Castle and Alameda Park roads.

Plans call for demolition of an existing building on the property, which used to house a Berkshire Hathaway real estate office, and constructing the new restaurant, township officials said.

Final approval from the township commissioners is required. The commissioners are tentatively scheduled to consider the plan Feb. 21.
