End of snow in sight

Once the snow remaining from an overnight winter storm ends this afternoon, no more precipitation is in the forecast until at least the middle of next week.

Butler County got an estimated quarter inch of ice accumulation from freezing rain Thursday night before the precipitation turned to snow early Friday.

Daytime temperatures will increase to above freezing beginning Sunday, but overnight temperatures will remain below freezing next week, said Shannon Hefferan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

“Any melting will have the potential to refreeze overnight,” Hefferan said.

High temperatures will reach only to the low 20s Friday and Saturday and dip into single digits both nights before the weather begins a slight warm up.
