Police Reports
The following items were collected from various police departments:
Jan. 27 — Jesse Kimmel, 32, of Bechtelsville, Berks County was charged with a felony of using an access device unauthorized by issuer, theft and receiving stolen property stemming from an incident June 13.
Police said they responded to a theft report June 22, during which surveillance footage showed Kimmell entering Lowe’s, taking a large hot water tank to the counter and returning it for store credit. According to police, the total value was $1,004.94 and Kimmell used a stolen Pennsylvania driver’s license in the process.
Kimmell used the store credit to purchase $847 worth of items that same day, police said. During the investigation it was discovered that Kimmell has made fraudulent returns at several Lowe’s stores in Western Pennsylvania.
Jan. 26 — Trung Huynh, 52, of Cranberry Township was charged with a first offense of driving under the influence in relation to an incident that occurred Oct. 29.
Police responded to a single-vehicle crash behind the JoAnn Fabrics building, where Huynh was outside of his vehicle. Police said they could smell alcohol on Huynh and he consented to field sobriety tests and a blood test.
Jan. 26 — John J. Daniluk Jr., 44, of Butler was charged with a first offense DUI and a first offense DUI of a controlled substance stemming from a traffic stop Dec. 11.
Police responded to a report of a vehicle driving recklessly in the vicinity of Powell Road and Rochester Road. Police said they initiated a traffic stop and upon approaching the vehicle they smelled a strong odor of cologne. Police said Daniluk confessed to having two beers before driving.
After a field sobriety test, Daniluk was placed under arrest and a search was conducted of his vehicle because of the strong masking agent sprayed inside. Police said they discovered a small amount of marijuana and a smoking pipe in a back pack in the front seat.
Police said a blood test revealed traces of marijuana in Daniluk’s system and his blood-alcohol content level was 0.111%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.
Jan. 26 — Robert L. Kemp, 43, of Pittsburgh was charged with two counts of use and possession of a small amount of marijuana related to an incident that occurred Dec. 9.
Police said they responded of a retail theft at Walmart, where Renee Towndrow and Kemp attempted to leave with $1,061 worth of merchandise. Both were patted down to make sure no other merchandise was stolen, and a small knife was found on Kemp as well as a glass pipe and white substance rolled in cellophane in a cigarette pack. Police said they suspected the substance to be cocaine.
