Roland G. Herb

Roland G. Herb, 92, of Forward Township, passed away on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, while under the care of Magnolia Place in Saxonburg.

Born July 26, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Adolf Herb and Laura Ozelnick Herb.

Roland was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.Roland was a graduate of Penn State University and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture.He was the former director of the Butler County Conservation District. He was awarded Outstanding Operator in 1967, and Bullshipper in 2003 for his work in promoting good relationships between rural and urban communities.He began his career working in the dairy industry as an inspector, and realized his dream in 1960 by purchasing what became White Oak Farm.Following his career as a dairy farmer, he became an associate broker for the Murray Agency. He was the former director of the Butler Board of Realtors. Roland was a member of the Evans City Rotary, serving as president. Additionally, he was the former director of the Butler County Pilots Association and served on the Forward Township Planning Commission.He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and the community to whom he served.Roland leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Sue Ann (David) Jones, Diane (Jeffrey) Iman, Tammy Herb and William G. (Debbie) Herb, all of Evans City; his grandchildren, Erik, Kirt, Kory, Tim, Amanda and Adam; and a soon-to-be great-granddaughter.In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Helen J. Fiel Herb, whom he married on May 4, 1953, and who passed away on Sept. 12, 2015; his siblings, William Herb, John Herb and Dorothy Leverette; and a granddaughter.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Magnolia Place for their compassionate care.HERB — Friends of Roland G. Herb, who died Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, will be received from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev.
